On the 25th January, SME owners and entrepreneurs alike joined at
Club Workspace to attend a free finance workshop presented by
FreeAgent. The event highlighted some of the crucial elements of bookkeeping and allowed the attendees to ask their questions throughout the workshop, enabling the speakers to cater to their audience.
90secondsTV were also at the Free Finance Workshop, interviewing entrepreneurs about their experience of the event.
Emily Coltman’s presentation stressed the importance of being efficient and organised when doing one’s accounts, and explained what a business can learn about itself by doing its own accounts.
Emily said “It's not just because
HMRC say you have to keep enough information to fill in your tax return and answer any questions they may have. Keeping good financial records can help ensure your business pays the right amount of tax. They can also provide useful information to help you run your business, such as whether you're charging enough to your customers to make a profit, or whether cash is coming in fast enough to pay your bills.”
Once the presentation came to a close, the attendees were able to ask any final questions, and finish the night with a round of networking.
