Hackathon London

29th June - 1st July 2012
The Clove Building
Are you a developer, designer, entrepreneur or startup?

If you are, you’ll want to keep the weekend of Friday June 29th – Sunday 1st July free, because we’re offering you the chance to impress potential investors, employers and peers – and nope, we won’t try to charge you, no matter how much you try to make us.

Investor and award-winning entrepreneur Mark Pearson, is inviting you to The Clove Building, Butlers Wharf, in the shadow of London’s Tower Bridge, where you’ll have 48 hours to develop new ideas or work on a current project with your team.

Mark is the founder and CEO of Markco Media, the company behind MyVoucherCodes.co.uk, and has an ever-extending investment portfolio. His investments, the majority of which are residents of The Clove Building, include companies such as games development firm Noisy Duck, citizen journalism website Blottr.com and mobile application company VouChaCha.

The resident start-ups, including Markco Media, are actively recruiting and will be heavily involved in the weekend.

There’ll be guest mentors throughout the weekend from the world of technology and startups who’ll make themselves available to provide advice and guidance.

So, if you’re looking for a job with some of the UK’s leading online firms, looking for investment for a project of your own or looking to start your own business and simply want to spend time around other like-minded people, you won’t want to miss Hackathon London, on the weekend of Friday June 29th – Sunday 1st July.

We almost forgot – there’s free food and drink, too.

See you there.....

Feedback from the first Hackathon

#hackLDN managed to bring together a fantastic mix of developers, designers and entrepreneurs for a weekend of ideas generation and realisation. The quality of results - applications and potential companies - speaks volumes for the talent we are fortunate enough to have in London and beyond, and the organisational skills of Ben, Mark and everybody at Markco Media, who made the event possible. I’m already looking forward to the next hackathon they put together.
Phil @leggetter, Developer Evangelist at Pusher
I came to Hackathon London looking to see some cool ideas, and build our own. The ideas that people brought were interesting and I have yet to sleep. The staff from marko media are friendly and have some good ideas and suggestions to help us get our ideas up and running.
Chris Ewbank
Even though I am yet to sleep, I am thoroughly enjoying the event. The progress on our team has been awesome and the constant help and banter from the staff just gives us more motivation to carry on with our project!
Rufus Honour - OverHeard
“It’s been fun, if incredibly tiring, to stay up all night working on a startup. Never had an opportunity like it before - I’d definitely do it again.”
Matt House
Considering I haven’t slept yet, I’m really enjoying Hackathon. I’d like it more if our prototype worked, but hey! You can’t get everything in the world!
