New data from office search consultancy
officebroker.com has shown that the number of businesses opting for
serviced office space has risen significantly in the North East of England.
The research traced the number of new businesses
relocating to serviced offices and revealed an increase of 35 percent between January and May 2012 in contrast to the same period in 2011.
Serviced offices provide an 'immediate occupation solution' within dedicated business centres and include many fundamental businesses services such as reception and telephone answering.
Interestingly, the data also highlighted that those businesses choosing serviced office space had larger requirements than in 2011 with an average of 18 percent more desk space being secured by companies during the same five months in 2012.
However, the cost of obtaining serviced office space remained largely unaffected with an average cost of £168 per month in 2011, in comparison to £169 in 2012.
Chris Meredith, UK Head of Sales at officebroker.com, explained the findings indicate that flexibility is an increasingly important consideration for decision makers in the North East of England when identifying new premises.
He commented: “The level of awareness around serviced office space has continued to grow as decision makers look for cost-effective alternatives to traditional long-term leases.”
“By allowing decision makers to inject flexibility into their business model, serviced offices are increasingly being acknowledged as a resource that can both help and protect a business in
a difficult economic climate," added Meredith.
